SoftBank Robotics is a company that designs and produces attractive and empathetic humanoid robots which one can interact with. SoftBank Robotics is present in France, Japan, the United States, and China, and currently has more than 500 employees.
SoftBank is currently a leading player in the humanoid robotics market.
SoftBank Robotics offers robots that can help professionals in the world of education, research, healthcare, logistics, and tourism, as well as in some other sectors. It is also designed to help families and individuals at home.
The company envisages a future in which humanoid robots will assist people in their daily life at home, at work, and in one’s leisure time. Its aim is for everybody to have access to robots, which will become our daily companions and assistants.
In 2006, they designed the first NAO robot and, to date, it is estimated that there are some 9000 NAO’s working around the world. NAO has enjoyed considerable success, particularly in education and research.
2009, in partnership with other bodies, they launched ROMEO. ROMEO was designed for research into improving healthcare for people who, due to their age or illness, had lost a degree of autonomy.
In 2014, they created the first social, or emotional, robot, our Pepper!
In 2017, SoftBank strengthened its position in robotics considerably with the acquisition of two companies from Alphabet, Google’s parent company.
The first was Boston Dynamics, a leading company in the field of mechanics Robotics, founded in 1992 at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
It then acquired Schaft, a Japanese company specializing in human movement simulation.
In 2018, we became SoftBank Robotics partners in Spain and so began the YASYT Robotics project which we will share with you through this blog.
